Lead and Senior DevOps Engineers Needed (Linux, AWS, Python, Bash) - £65k - £90k- B2B Bank - London

The Client:

My client are a start-up banking service for small businesses, freelancers and entrepreneur. They are have been heavily invested in and have had to turn away investors as they have reached their capacity. My client are now entering a scaling phase of the business and need a strong DevOps Engineers to support their infrastructure growth.

In these roles you will form a new team with 1 existing DevOps Engineer reporting in to senior management of the business.

Technical Skills:

  • At least 2 years' experience as a DevOps Engineer
  • Passionate about automation, build pipelines, release trains, infrastructure-as-code, IaaS, PaaS and all things DevOps
  • You have built large-scale applications in the cloud supporting millions of customers, preferably running on the JVM at the back-end with both mobile & web apps
  • Can demonstrate expert level proficiency in one or more of the usual DevOps scripting languages like Groovy, Python or shell / Bash scripting
  • Exposure to Agile principles, processes, and practices
  • Bonus points if you have SecOps skills or exposure to security projects and/or big data experience

Lead Responsibilities (in addition to the senior):

  • Mentor & nurture less experienced members of the DevOps team
  • Perform line management duties such as appraisals
  • Grow your team by assisting in the hiring process

Senior Responsibilities:

  • Be an advocate of the DevOps mindset, through coaching, mentoring and training
  • Influence the platform, tools and environment for DevOps
  • Strive for almost 100% automation of our DevOps processes
  • Work both inside and outside of multiple Scrum teams
  • Drive platform migrations and upgrades
  • Continuously improve platform reliability, monitoring, alerting, performance and security
  • Empower and support team members to remove impediments, and escalate organisational blockers
  • Help to establish and actively participate in the DevOps Community of Practice, sometimes taking the lead
  • Provide 24/7 banking so you will be expected to participate in 3rd line support duties
  • Mentor & nurture less experienced members of the DevOps team
  • Experience with Terraform, Amazon Web Services, Bitbucket and Jenkins, amongst others


  • Upwards of £60,000 (depending on experience and level of role)
