Job Description

Twenty Financial Services are currently recruiting for a Head of Operational Risk/ Internal Control for a Corporate Bank in London.

The person filling the role will report directly to the CRO, and have full oversight of the Internal Control Department, ensuring that the Bank's operational processes run to the highest standards.


  • With full oversight of the department, the person filling this role will provide strategic and tactical direction across all operations and systems of internal controls in the unit
  • Responsibilities will focus around review of the risk management procedures, the internal control systems, the governance processes and the information systems
  • In order to assist in helping to detect and prevent fraud, periodic testing of transactions, special investigations, assessments of regulatory requirements and other procedures will be carried out
  • Account maintenance in order to effectively distribute duties
  • The Internal Control Department reviews and produces reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis and the person filling this role will run this effectively, responsibilities here including: review of Treasury FX Transactions, KYC Documentation, RCSA testing and reporting to Risk Committee, fixed assets review, liaison with Group Internal Audit and monitoring of regulatory reporting, CMP testing and reporting to the Compliance Department, review of departmental procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose and MI reporting
  • Assisting the CRO in the implementation of a suitable Risk Management framework as well as ongoing maintenance and monitoring of this
  • Provide advice and support to the other members of the team from an Operational Risk and Risk management perspective
  • Risk commentary and analysis in order to make decisions with the CRO
  • Compile, give feedback and present opinion and advice on the results of the annual RCSA (Risk Control Self-Assessment)
  • Liase closely with Internal Control, Compliance and Internal Audit on risk matters
  • Provide input into the Review of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually regulatory returns and submissions (including ICAAP, ILAAP, RRP) and reviewing the associated risk related Regulatory Returns
  • Involvement in development and implementation of new product and new initiatives from an Operational Risk perspective, identifying potential impacts prior to implementation

Key Skills

  • Experience working within Emerging Markets in a banking background is essential
  • Operational Risk experience is key- an Internal Audit background into Operational Risk will be considered
  • Good knowledge of regulatory rules and legislation
  • Ability to assess data and interpret the impact of Operational Risks on the bank
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently and actively is key; as Head of the Internal Control function, this person will need to be able to perform all tasks relating to the running of the Bank's operational processes
  • Complying with the Senior Management Function (SMF), previously SIF (Significant Influence Function responsibilities)
