Job Description

Chief Analytics Officer - Energy - London

As part of the creation of a new Data Analytics function with the aim to realize improvement Profit, by embedding Data & Analytics in organizational DNA, the new Chief Analytics Officer position is important to the entire organization as both enabler and growth driver. This is a critical role that will build and champion Data Analytics strategy execution and roll-out throughout the group, and operationalize its adoption across the full set of company's business processes, mindset, capabilities and ways of working.

Responsibilities:

  • Evangelist and flag-carrier for analytics, leads analytics adoption throughout the group
  • Develops, implements and monitors data analytics strategy and roadmap to transform data into measurable business benefits, in alignment with the group strategy & needs of industry
  • Is responsible for identifying business opportunities; increase revenues or decrease costs based on the insights obtained from data analytics
  • Develops analytics capabilities across the organization through tools implementation and training
  • Leads and develops core team of data scientists and analytics managers

Challenges:

  1. Change the mindset toward becoming analytics driven organization, moving away from making decisions based on gut-feel to data-driven strategies and decisions
  2. Occupy the middle ground between business and technology teams to design solutions that are fit for purpose and that can impact the business
  3. Envision the company's data analytics future and bring executives, management and other layers of the organization on board with that vision

Required Experience:

  • Proven capability to translate analysis into strategic recommendations with a sound understanding of strategy
  • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premise and cloud-based data sources
  • Proven understanding of innovative techniques of data management and analysis across a complex organization
  • Demonstrated understanding of data architecture, data management, and the development of data governance and quality control
  • Demonstrable experience of spreading the word about the benefits of data analytics
  • Understanding of, and experience building business cases for analytics projects or similar
  • Experience managing technical-minded teams
  • Experience using analytics techniques to contribute to company growth efforts, increasing revenue and other key business outcomes
  • Strategic and operational, can set the strategic direction, but can also work in the detail
  • Able to positively challenge existing thinking building credibility & trust through experience & personal style and gravitas
  • Evidence of strong leadership at a C- or board level with the drive and persistence to perform, even at times of great change and under strong pressure.
